A VIRTUAL TALK SERIES

About the Virtual Talk Series
When the you-know-what hits the fan, HR is expected to be the calm one; to be the voice of reason; to not let it get you down or at least show that it doesn’t get to you. Some days you’re therapists. Some days you’re the HR police. Some days you’re… cat wranglers. The result? Stress levels and exhaustion are higher than ever before for HR professionals. You’re so busy taking care of others’ needs that you’re forgetting to “put your oxygen mask on first” and neglect your own. It’s time for change!

Nurturing the HR Soul is a monthly virtual event series providing you with the tools and strategies you need to be the champion of your own self-care and wellbeing. Every month, you’ll learn how to prioritize yourself and “fill your own cup”—in a guilt free way—so you can be everything you need to be in all areas of your life—yourself, family, friends, and colleagues—without the stress and burnout.

Leave the Sh*t at Work: How to Disconnect at the End of the Day. Is this Possible?

Do you know the difference between compassion and empathy? Understanding the difference can mean feeling fulfilled, happy and rejuvenated or empty, sad and tired at the end of a workday. Being empathetic and feeling the feelings of other people can lead to exhaustion and fatigue and does not necessarily result in helping others. Compassion on the other hand does not fatigue — it is neurologically rejuvenating, and it allows us to help others while feeling good in the process. In this talk we will:
  • Discuss the difference between compassion and empathy and how to cultivate compassion in a sustainable way
  • See how compassion fatigue is actually more often empathy fatigue
  • Explore how the brain is wired to care for others and how societal expectations for caretaking aren’t always sustainable
  • Explore boundaries between self and others, and how to care for others while also taking care of yourself (and actually enjoying the process rather than feeling burnt out or fatigued!)

The 3 M's for Moving On

The complexities of life can take their toll on us emotionally, mentally and physically without us even noticing at times. We can become overwhelmed and confused, less productive, demotivated, our mojo in some, or all aspects of life fades, consistency and action goes out the window completely and if nothing changes we can reach crisis point. Knowing how and where to make the first step towards recovering from these experiences can seem and feel almost impossible.

The 3 M’s are the key ingredients to allow you to move on in all aspects of your life, creating a positive and personally realistic mindset for progressing and managing life changes. It’s also a model to come back to over and over again when life naturally throws curve balls, we have a wobble or we realise an element of it just isn’t working anymore.

Simple Mindfulness Practices for Daily Life

Mindful intentions are daily, thoughtful acts to map a life you truly enjoy. How often have you rushed into your day without even thinking about how you’d like things to go? Before you know it, something or someone has rubbed you the wrong way, and you’ve reacted automatically with frustration, impatience, or rage—in other words, you’ve found yourself acting in a way you never intended.

This session will teach you how to get "unstuck" from these patterns and kickstart your New Year in a more mindful way. You will learn how to pause during the day so you can live less on autopilot and become more mindful of setting intentions. The greater awareness you develop by living a more mindful life, the more focused you become to accomplish your goals. You will walk away knowing how to regain your focus and design your perfect life.
