For the early part of my adult life I struggled with my weight. I would constantly berate myself because I wasn’t happy with how I looked and how I felt. I just wanted to feel confident and good in my skin. So I tried fad diet after fad diet. You name the diet, I tried it — on the search for the magic bullet that would finally work! 

Each time I went on a new diet, I got excited because I thought “this time will be different.” And things would start off positive in that I lost weight. And I had that amazing feeling of having my clothes get too big and picking out new, smaller clothes that I felt great in. But all the while I was suffering on these diets. I was hungry and deprived. Oh, and I was grumpy AF!!  

But that's not the worst part.

The worst part is that when I went off each diet, I’d continue eating healthy but I gave myself more wiggle room with what I ate and how much. And that’s when the weight came back on… Every. Single. Time! Maybe you can relate and know how defeating this is. 

My low point was when I tried eating less, counting calories, exercising more and harder. I went to extremes to achieve it. I began marathoning and ended up in an orthorexia nervosa battle. I wasted away to 105 lbs and started struggling with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) (and not the run to washroom kind, the opposite in which I could't go) because I wasn't getting the right nutrients into my body. I lost critical hormonal functions that support your overall health and wellbeing. 

That's when I decided there had to be a better way.

I made it my life’s work to study the real science about food and nutrition and learn why I was struggling for so many years—and I learned how to heal my metabolism so I could not only lose the weight, but keep it off for good. 

I finally felt freedom with food and my body, and I learned how to eat and take care of myself that felt nurturing, rather than punishment. I learned that eating is a part of self-love and that the way we eat is a clear indicator of how we feel about ourselves.
